New idea just popped in.
Well, I see now that FileServe has stopped it’s download service and payback service (not that I was going to use it). But I thought of a way to help obscure my downloads to keep them from being DMCA’d. What if I hosted my files in a .zip container? Everyone has the ability to extract from zip right?
Well the thought was, I’d use zip and semi-obscure naming system. For example:
Hidan no Aria – 01 [C20].mp4
Would be zipped and named to something like:
H [4D39FA01] 01.zip
So from first glance, you can’t tell what the file is. But the original file is still inside.
Sound good? Leave comments below.
I’ll start reuploading everything to (insert host here) slowly, I’ll be having over 100GB of data to transfer. Some of which I’ll be doing from my college, most of which from my home. And dealing with school and work, my time gets limited. Plus with AT&T’s 150GB a month limit sucks. I hit it this month lol. Still got 2 days left before next period.
Since this catastrophe happened, it’ll give me a new chance to get encodes that needed to be fixed, fixed, and try out some new settings.
Here soon I’ll upload a batch of Test videos. All of which have very similar settings, but various tweaks in the settings that will make them unable to play on other devices. Hopefully in the end, I’ll have better settings used which result in better quality.
Stay tuned! This site is not finished! XD.

Great idea, but like I mentioned earlier, FileServe doesn’t let you download anything you didn’t upload :(. I tried on a random one of your FS links – “You can only download what you uploaded”.

And to add to your idea, I would include an extra random MP3 to the RAR file and add a blank space to the end of your videos (ex: “H[123]” to H[123] ” to change the MD5 hashes of the files.

Oh well that is crap. I never bothered to look. Well I guess the rest of my pages will be taken down… I could have sworn that it was a different site that done that. Whatever. If the sites do that, that means that they were doing illegal things and they wanted to stop it. Guess I’ll go back to MediaFire with the obscure names and no Folders.

Would you be using mediafire for this zip idea? If not, which site?

I hope you can find a good file sharing website, it seems like everyone is running in fear of the feds! Maybe you should wait a few days before uploading anything just in case mediafire or any other file sharing lockers decide to close business. It would suck to waste your monthly bandwidth on a site closure.

Anyway, I think I’ll be sticking to MediaFire with obscurities. I need to catch up on Shakugan no Shana, so those will be the test for now.
I don’t think MediaFire will be going anywhere since they aren’t a huge company yet. And for the most part files get flagged with DMCA things normally get taken down pretty quick.
If MediaFire was concerned much, Mikudb.com wouldn’t be using it.
